Inspired by the legendary Roorkhee Chair named in honor of the British military officers stationed at Roorkhee in India, the Nomad Chair is a rediscovered Scandinavian modern classic. Just like its military predecessor, the Nomad Chair is light weight, highly portable, exceptionally strong, and very comfortable.
The Nomad is created with a series of turned bamboo plywood parts which are fitted into each other without glue, being held together by a combination of leather straps and canvas seat and back. When someone sits in the chair, the straps, arms, seat, and back all act under tension to keep the whole structure in place while, at the same time, allowing it to adjust to uneven ground and remain perfectly stable, actually, the heavier the occupant the more stable the chair becomes.
The modern portable chair is made from certified moso bamboo, one of the most sustainable natural resources the world has. Additionally, all leather and canvas fabrics produced without the use of harmful chemicals, such as chromium tanning and unnatural dyeing.
For those with on-the-go lifestyles, this intuitive folding chair is ideal. It can be assembled or disassembled in a matter of seconds and transported in a compact package.
The Nomad Chair is on display at Design Junction NYC May 16th to May 20th, 2015. Contact us to pre-order your chair today!
