With George Clooney’s movie “Monuments Men” set to be released on February 7, 2014, the consummate bachelor is showing up in all sorts of places to promote the action drama he not only acted in but directed as well. How, you might ask, does this relate to modern furnishings and décor, which is always the subject at hand here on the 212Concept blog?
As a result of reading about the movie and the actor’s part in it, we decided to revisit the actor’s modern Mexican villa built next door to pals Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber on the Baja peninsula. Their Los Cabos compound, Architectural Digest tells us in it’s November 2013 issue, is called Casamigos meaning “House of Friends.” Here’s a look inside Clooney’s stunning home.
Woven lanterns hang from the trees near the home’s entrance. The façade of the white villa is made of Morisca quartzite from Brazil.
With lots of dark wood, this modern house has a distinctive masculine look, but is in no way too dark and moody. The many white walls see to that.
The chef-worthy eat-in kitchen boasts a beautiful slatted wood bar-height table. It’s a perfect room for cooking while entertaining or entertaining while cooking.
More gorgeous wood warms up the kitchen with parota-faced cabinets. Isn’t the massive range hood simply stunning?
No dark and gloomy interior stairwell in this home. A potted cactus adds an appealing natural element beneath the large circular skylight at the top of the stairs.
The focal point in the master bedroom is a massive woven leather headboard. John Robshaw fabrics are used on the bed’s decorative pillows, adding a bit of color and pattern.
The master bath has its own shaded terrace with comfortable upholstered and pillow-strewn lounge area and travertine Jacuzzi.
The fully equipped home theater features a 14-foot screen and deep comfortable reclining seats.
Mexican travertine and pale upholstery make the patio an inviting place for relaxing around the central fire pit.
The bar in blue stone and dark wood is well stocked with Casamigos tequila, a premium brand launched by Clooney, Gerber and friend Mike Meldman. It’s the drink of choice when they’re at home in Los Cobos.
